Dear Parents/Caregivers
Kia Ora
Date: 31 May 2011; Term 2 Week
5
It was wonderful to have the BMX bikes delivered
on Friday. We are looking forward to sizing and naming each helmet
so every Sanson School student has one here to use. When your
child moves on to high school they will bring their helmet home!
The bikes and helmets were made possible with funding from the
Kiwisport Regional Partnership Fund to promote activity and involvement
in sport(s).
KAPA HAKA
The students are enjoying the Kapa Haka group
on Monday mornings with Di. The whole school can now sing Tutira
mai nga iwi and they are learning the actions too. We have a couple
of excellent leaders (Grace and Teara) who lead us in practising
'A ha ka ma'. Thanks to Di for giving her time with this very
important part of the curriculum.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR SUPPORT
Not many weeks go by when we don't ask our parents/supporters
to provide transport or help in some way. Now seems to be a good
time to say THANKS to all those people who continue to support
our school in so many ways.
The support we receive for such a small community is fantastic.
Just look at the support we receive from local businesses who
support our newsletter, and we have a waiting list for other businesses
to come on board.
A community who sticks together will grow together. If you know
of any new families into the area we would love to hear so we
can formally welcome them. Contact Doreen in the office.
COLGATE TOOTHPASTE PACKETS
Please keep sending your empty packets (not tubes)
along to school. Anyone can send these along, you don't have to
be a parent/grandparent of our school. If you work somewhere ask
your colleagues to bring them in as well. We have entered our
school into this competition to win $$$'s for our school. Thank
You.

BOT MEETING
Following the recent survey on school uniforms, the Board discussed
this in length. Early planning needs to take place because we
need to alter our contract with Postie Plus for the Polo Shirt.
The Board is very much aware of the cost of doing this and will
endeavour to source the best and cheapest option for families.
Obviously this will be phased in over a period of time.
There will be some options to choose from-watch out for a separate
sheet towards the end of the term (maybe sooner!) and have your
say.
In the mean time see Doreen or Jude if your child needs a Uniform
as we have a number of second hand ones for swap or donation.
Have a great long weekend everyone. Enjoy your Monday break, see
you
Tuesday.
Regards Jude and the
team
