Minutes of previous meeting confirmed
correct; Grant/Nola
Correspondence;
Letter to Brent Limmer re funding for Sanson Advancement Trust.
From M.D.C. roading manager re Farmers St. problems.
E-mail to and from Cole O'Keefe at N.Z.T.A. re signage.
Letters to and from N.Z.T.A. and M.D.C. re Engine Braking Signs.
Community Committee Project Fund application form from Phil
Bronn.
Matters
Arising;
Both Cath and Grant disputed information from N.Z.T.A. re Engine
Braking Signs. Dan Tate told Del that they only had the 'Please
No Engine Braking' signs whereas at Taihape the signs state
'Engine Braking Prohibited.'
James presented the concept design drawn by Lindsay McKinney
for "gateway" signage for the village. Margaret to
talk to Helen Worboys about having signs made up. A working
bee will be organized to erect them. Signage information from
N.Z.T.A.is very confusing.
Discussion re C.C.P.F. and its uses. We have talked to Bill
Gordon of Rainbow Furniture about designing, building and installing
a new Notice Board in the foyer of the Library Building. This
project quoted at $570 inc gst will be our first project applied
for.
Margaret's Report;
Discussion about Farmers St problems and the numbering of homes
in that area having Grace St and Hedges St addresses though
these streets do not connect. Margaret is aware of the problems
encountered by Emergency Services when called to these addresses.
Margaret also spoke about the Sanson Community Advancement Trust
and the interest taken by Feilding Promotions in their endeavours
and where money could possibly come from to further their aims.
It appears that the Community Committee Funding project is not
available for their proposed plans for Dundas Rd.
Margaret had seen problems at Cath Purdie's home bordering on
to Harris Lane and had made further enquiries as to who should
deal with it.
General
Business;
Ed Hills spoke about the hotel development project and said
that the Sanson Community is owed an apology from the M.D.C.
There were other offers for this land and building which had
great commercial potential. He stated that we have had nearly
three years of uncertainty with various consultants being paid
great sums of money for design concepts. The committee members
agreed unanimously with Ed's contentions. We had been asked
what we wanted for the development only to be told that it was
not for the benefit of the community.
Ed asked that this motion be recorded;
The Mayor should attend our next meeting and offer an apology
to the Sanson Community. We wish to see all design concepts
presented so far regardless of how bizarre they are.
Seconded Kristy and agreed to unanimously.
Grant then moved a second motion;
That we be advised on costs, in particular, the purchase, toilet
upgrade and balance of project.
This motion was put to the meeting and was also unanimously
agreed to.
Margaret thanked Ed for expressing his views and spoke about
the Ohakea upgrade and their concept of having an I Site and
a cafeteria there which would have an effect on what is actually
put in place at the hotel development.
Del to write to the Mayor, Ian McKelvie and invite him to our
next meeting.
Dump
Station;
Cath stated that her husband Brian Purdie had been in touch
with M.D.C. re dump station and the matter is in hand.
Kristy spoke about the problems of getting to speak to anyone
at N.Z.T.A. re placing planter boxes in Dundas Rd.
Kristy wanted recorded in the minutes Jenny Stretton of Property
Brokers is now doing the Sanson Snippets.
Grant complained that the gorse adjoining Harris Contracting
is still growing vigorously. Committee understands that this
land belongs to the M.D.C.
Ross objected to the council telephone survey undertaken in
the evenings and particularly calls on Sunday evening. While
we understand the value of this work to the council it was initially
thought by some residents that it was a scam. Some residents
had been rung as late as 9 pm.
As there was no more business meeting
closed at 9 15 pm and supper was served.
Next meeting in the supper room at 7 30pm Wednesday 28th September
2011.
After the meeting Del checked her answer
phone and there was an apology received from Andy Ewen who had
sustained an accident.
