Sanson Snippets
This month's Snippets comes to you courtesy of Garry
Prince who operates the business on the corner of State Highway
1 and Phillips St. Known as Classic
cars. If you have not had a look in this building, which in
times gone past was the Goods Shed for the Sanson Tramway you are
missing a treat. The Oldies among us who now drive Japanese cars
will appreciate the body work and craftsmanship that went into the
truly Classic Car. Call in to reminisce with Garry. He will be pleased
to see you.
This Months Happenings.

The School is holding a Disco evening in the Community Hall from
7 to 9pm on April 12th. This is for years 1 to 8, and entrance is
by ticket only. Tickets are available at the school office for $2.00.
School breaks up for the holidays on Thursday April 13th and resumes
for the second term on Wednesday April 26th.

746 Del Parker.
Swimming Pool.
The Pool has closed for the season and we ask that all cards be
returned to the school office.
The National Show of the Cavy Club will
be held in the community Hall on Easter weekend 15th and 16th April.
Cavies are Guinea pigs, those endearing little pets much loved by
children. Entrance to this show will be by Gold Coin donation.
Anzac Day
This year those wishing to march in the parade are asked to fall
in at the school gates at 9-15am, thence to the cenotaph for the
wreath laying ceremony, fly past and last post. At 10 am the Anzac
Day service in the community hall will be conducted by the padre
from Ohakea Air Force Base, Squadron leader Anthony Hawes. All residents
are invited to attend and have a light luncheon following the service.
A plate will be appreciated.
Community Library.
This will be quite a busy month for our volunteers. On April 12th
we change our books again and we appreciate all the help we can
get. We will run a holiday programme for the children from Tuesday
April 18th to Friday 21st. 10-30am to 11-30am each day. This is
free with all materials provided by the Feilding Library. Littlies
bring a minder please.
Despite reminders we still have overdue books out there and are
seriously considering fining the borrowers who regularly offend.
Please make our volunteers lives easier and return books on time.
Remember our photo copying service at 10 cents per A4 page of 20
cents per A3 page. We also have a great selection of Jigsaw Puzzles.
For Hall bookings phone Dell on 329 3674. Individual quotes given.
Thieves!
Those despicable people, the petrol siphon'ers are active again.
Not only do they steal your precious petrol, they damage locked
caps. One resident had the tanks of both of his vehicles emptied
overnight recently. Our neighbourhood Watch people are keeping an
eye out for suspicious behaviour but of course they can not be everywhere.
It always amazes me the peope who have garages and leave their cars
out at night. And while on the subject of neighbourhood Watch this
costs us up to $200 per year to operate for cell phones etc. and
donations are always welcome. Contact Del on 329 3674. We have five
people who go out in all weathers checking for unlocked doors on
business premises etc and they have direct contact with the Feilding
Police. Bulls Police also do regular patrols around the village.
Roaming Dogs
Since our last newsletter the dog ranger has visited several properties
and steps have been taken to make sure that dog owners are aware
of their responsibilities to other people. If a dog is causing you
a problem please ring the M.D.C on 323 0000 and report to the dog
ranger. We can assure you that he will take your complaint seriously.
Missing Cat
Kim who lived in the old school, is missing a five month old female
cat, white with tortoise shell markings. This is the second cat
Kim has lost recently. If it has made itself at home at your place
please give her a ring on 329 3432.
Sanson Community Committee.
We had a good turnout of residents at our last meeting and it is
good to get feed back on problems that we are unaware of. Phillips
street residents reported on cars speeding on this narrow street.
Not only the local boy racers but motorists wishing to avoid the
main intersection and detouring on to back streets. It remains to
be seen what can be done to overcome this problem. Apologies to
Mr Richard Gravenor who asked me to advertise for him in the Snippets.
I have lost the piece of paper that I scribbled your ad on and have
been unable to get in touch with you. Sorry. Since the meeting several
of us have met with the water manager Wayne Spencer and we are assured
that once work replacing the faulty restrictors is done we should
not have the problems that have beset us lately. We have asked Wayne
to install some sort of easy system for residents to turn off the
water supply in times of high waterfall. John Greenwood also attended
our meeting to give his ideas on how the www.sanson.net.nz could
be improved.
Next meeting in the library Wednesday April 26th at 7pm.
Broadband.
Now that April is here we are once again harassing Telecom to install
Broadband in our area. It seems unfair that it is available in Rongotea
and Bulls so why not us.
Vandalism
Parishioners at the Anglican Church were dismayed to find one of
the church windows broken recently. Was it a passing car flicking
up a stone or one of the local vandals?
That's is for this month and apologies to anyone whose items I have
forgotten to print. Too much excitement what with winning the Play
station 2 etc !!!!!
