ANZAC DAY
Well, wouldn't you just know it after all the beautiful weather
we have had it had to rain! Nevertheless there was a good turn out
of residents and R.S.A. folk for the service at the hall. Mr. Bill
Boyer has asked me to thank the hall committee members who put out
the stage and the chairs etc. and for tidying up after the ceremony.
As the years go by the R.S.A. members are getting fewer and like
us all growing older. Perhaps in the future we can organize younger
members of the community to lend a helping hand to set up the hall
for this important occasion.
SANSON COMMUNITY LIBRARY
Once again we had a successful holiday programme but we would love
to see more children come along. All materials for the craft work
are supplied by Feilding Library so it is entirely free as are the
books that we have for your enjoyment. If there is something that
you wish to read and we haven't got it we can get it in for you.
Those borrowers who come in on a Thursday morning will have missed
our friendly volunteer Mihi Olsson. Mihi has been in hospital and
is now on the road to recovery and we look forward to her return.
Thank you to those people who came and helped us with our last book
change. You are appreciated! We still have a few books outstanding
from the previous selection. If you have had a note about them please
make our job a little easier and return them.
We have lots of Jigsaws for the enthusiasts. Remember our photo-copying
service at 10 cents per A4 page and 20 cents per A3 page.
LIBRARY HOURS
Monday 10 am to midday Tuesday 2 pm to 4pm
Thursday 10 am to midday Friday 2 pm to 4 pm
Saturday 11am to 1pm
NOTICEBOARD
While we all get upset at theft and wanton vandalism it is not a
good look to put offensive notices in the noticeboard for all the
world to see. Many of us have had solar lights stolen or wrecked
and I myself have had obscene language painted on my drive. The
right place to complain is to the police. There is a community constable
stationed at Bulls who takes complaints seriously. Phone 3222020.
If you like fresh fish the Fish Man is outside the Junction Hotel
every Tuesday afternoon shortly after 2 pm.
Have you checked out David Pickles website www.sanson.net.nz
It is a mine of information.
ROAMING DOGS
Further to last month's complaint re roaming dogs two more grievances
have been aired. The first concerns unleashed dogs on the walking
track and the second about continually barking dogs. The Sanson
Domain is a recognized dog exercise area where dogs can run at will.
Please remove their doings! Is it your dog that barks hour after
hour? Please consider your neighbours and take the poor thing for
a run occasionally. If you have a problem with dogs please ring
the M.D.C. on 3230000 and report to the dog ranger. We can assure
you that he will take your complaint seriously.
MISSING CATS
Kim who enquired about her missing cat was surprised to hear from
other cat owners who are also missing much-loved pets. She would
like to know what is going on and will be pleased to hear from anyone
who can throw some light on the problem. Please give her a ring
on 3293432.
SANSON COMMUNITY COMMITTEE
Once again we had a good turnout of residents at our last meeting.
The Phillips St. problem with speeding cars was widely discussed.
Speed humps could be the answer but of course nobody wants them
outside their place. This has gone back to the M.D.C. for more consideration.
We also discussed Neighbourhood Watch and we will shortly be calling
a meeting to reinvorigate this worthwhile service.
Next meeting in the Library, Wednesday May 24th at 7pm.
FESTIVE LIGHTS
A committee consisting of Ross Vile, Nola Borrett, Viv Withers,
Elaine Malone and Del Parker was set up to decide how we will spend
the money we are holding. We will be pleased to receive money from
anyone who wishes to donate.
BROADBAND
One of our residents was told that he would be connected to Broadband
on April 11th but when we made enquiries we were told that the person
who promised the service was not aware that Broadband is not available
here. My information is that it is as far away as ever and no date
has yet been set. Suggest that all of you who want it send Theresa
Gattung an E-mail at Telecom.
FREE ADS

Late News
I had finished the Snippets when I received a phone call to tell
me that Mr. Bill Farmer has passed away. Bill has been a resident
here for a number of years and will be greatly missed by his many
friends particularly those belonging to the Sanson Club where he
was a valued member. Our sincere condolences to his friends and
family.
