AUGUST 2005
This month's Snippets comes to you courtesy of DANZ LAWNMOWING
locally owned and operated by Daniel Deane. Those of you who use
the recycling Centre will know how well kept it is and this is thanks
to Daniel who has the contract for tidying the grounds and keeping
the lawns mowed. For any queries or no obligation quote phone 3293549
or 027 601 2290
PERSONAL ITEMS
We were all shocked at the sudden passing of John
Daily who had been associated with Sanson since 1963 and was well
known and well liked by us all. He will be greatly missed by not
only his family but the wider community. Our sympathy goes out to
his children and grandchildren.
We are pleased to hear that both June Tricker and
Joan Richards are progressing after their recent trips to hospital.
We grumble about the health system but when we need it it is there.
We have several other residents who are not in the best of health
and we send them cheer germs.
Kelly and Roger Fergusson of Cemetery Rd. have
welcomed into their home a wee daughter, Paige born on July 19th
and weighing 7lbs 9 oz. Paige has a big brother and a small sister
who are delighted with her. We hear that there are several other
arrivals expected and we would love to hear from their parents.
Larry Olsson who works at The Tile Centre recently
received an award at the Palmerston North Business Awards for his
Floor and Wall tiling expertise. Congratulations Skin!!!

LADIES! If you are at a loose end on the first
Tuesday of the month the Womens Institute will welcome you with
open arms. Next month their guest speaker will be from St John's
and this should be particularly interesting. They meet in the Supper-room
of the Community Hall at 1.30 p.m. Contact number for Mrs. Margaret
Halpin is 323 8583
Sanson Club is holding a Fashion Parade of pre loved clothes on
Saturday, August 20th at 2.p.m. This should be a real hoot and the
proceeds are going to the Festive lights Appeal. Entry is by gold
coin. All Welcome.

NEIGHBOURHOOD SUPPORT
There have been a couple of disturbing incidents
in the village recently probably caused by people passing through
and we are hoping to step up the nightly patrols. If you are willing
to help please contact either James on 3293722 or Del on 3293674.
Dave Fraser from the Bulls Police has been of great help to us and
does regular patrols around the area. We are all grateful to the
nightwatchmen who regularly check out the school, hall and business
premises. Remember, if you are going to be away, let a trusted neighbour
know. We are also concerned about the roaming dogs and it is a poor
show when one of our residents feels forced to carry a dog repeller
when she goes for her evening walk. She was menaced by a snarling
dog in the street and was quite terrified. Since the Council has
combined with the P.N.C.C. with dog control it is not so easy to
contact the dog ranger but we urge anybody with a problem to contact
the Council and lay a complaint.
SANSON COMMUNITY LIBRARY
We had a well attended holiday programme in the
school holidays and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There are
some very creative children out there. We have received confirmation
of a computer for the Library which will give access to the internet
and E-mail. Hopefully we will be able to find a few more volunteers
(male or female) who are able to spare the odd hour helping out.
Even if you know nothing about computers you will soon be taught.
If I can learn anyone can!
Our next book change is on Wednesday August 10th
at 10 30a.m. If you would like to come along and help please do.
It would be helpful if those of you with overdue books would return
them before this date. Several books have gone missing without trace.
These are Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Cool Crafts
for Creative Kids, Sing Hey Diddle Diddle, Maxwell's Curse and Passionate
Intruder. Four of these are children's books and we ask mothers
to have a hunt for them.
We also have a good supply of jigsaw puzzles and
remember our photo copying service at 10c per A4 sheet.
SANSON COMMUNITY COMMITTEE
Our next meeting will be held in the Library on
Wednesday 24th at 7 p.m. Feel free to come along and let us know
your concerns.
SANSON COMMUNITY HALL
Users of the hall may notice that the building
has recently been re clad and anybody endeavouring to kick a hole
in the wall is more likely to break their foot rather than the wall.
We have also invested in a new stove thanks to good bookings and
Jeff of Leader and Watt in Bulls who did us a really good deal.
Next year's diary has quite a number of bookings already so if you
are planning a celebration and need a venue it will pay to get in
early. Contact Del on 3293674. It would be appreciated if smokers
who stick to the No Smoking rule and go outside the building to
smoke, would please not drop their butts. I find it disgusting to
have to pick them up and as the hall area is used by the school
too the staff there are quite annoyed also.
I can't think of anything else to complain about but I would like
to thank Chad who rolled out the big ruts in my front lawn after
a young hoon did a donut there.
