SANSON TOWN WATER SUPPLY
The Sanson water supply is a trickle feed system
that supplies each household with up to 1cubic metre per day at
a constant rate of flow over a 24hr period. This supply is fed into
an onsite water storage tank that is often augumented by rainwater
from the house roof. Each household should have a minimum storage
capacity of 1 cubic metre. There are 158 connections to the scheme
giving a maximum theoretical demand of 158 cubic metres per day.
If you add 20% additional demand for pipe losses the total peak
demand is 190 cubic metres per day.Last summer the scheme had difficulties
meeting the demand as the water level in the supply bore periodically
dropped below the level of the bore pump. This was due to the demand
exceeding the capacity of the bore.
An analysis of the records for the summers of 2004
and 2005 shows a noticeable increase in the water take and a summer
2005 demand that exceeds the maximum expected 190 cubic metres per
day.
Actual single day peak water use is likely to exceed
300 cubic metres per day!
THIS CAN NOT CONTINUE!
The council intends to undertake an inspection
of all water connections during November. The inspections will be
used to check that the flow restrictors to each property are in
place and working correctly, to locate and record the location of
each property service and to tag each restrictor with a non tamper
label. During this inspection all faulty restrictors found will
be replaced as part of the general maintenance of the system. Where
an illegal connection is found the property owner will be given
a fair amount of time to rectify the problem after which time if
not corrected the council workman will undertake the connection
at the cost of the property owner.
If the high summer water demand cannot be reduced
then the community may run out of water this summer and capital
costs may be required to increase capacity.
Many of us who have lived here for a long time
are aware that the original restrictors failed and many of us have
almost unrestricted use of the water. Though we may be careful in
our water use this is illegal. We urge residents to cooperate with
the Council workman when he visits your property later this month.
BOY RACERS!!
Concern has been expressed at the actions of the
lads hooning around the streets. They must have plenty of money
if they can afford the rubber that they are leaving on the road.
One is a red car and the other is a grey Mazda with the number plate
letters NM ???
Privacy prevents me from publishing the rest of
the plate number but the police have been informed. We are aware
that these hoons do eventually grow up and turn into quite nice
people but they are a bit hard to put up with in the meantime.
WEANER PIGS
Karen on phone 3293855 has fast growing coloured

delicious. Available shortly.
