OCTOBER 2005
SANSON SCHOOL AGRICULTURAL and CRAFT DAY
This will be held on Friday 28th October. The children's
craft will be judged on Thursday at 2.30p.m. Judging of Calves and
Lambs will be at 10 45 a.m.on Friday. There will be a barbeque lunch
on sale and the cakes will be auctioned at 12 30p.m. This is a good
opportunity for those of us who have no connection with the school
to come along and help the school with their fundraising.
SANSON TRAMWAY COMMEMORATION PLAQUE
We have received confirmation from the M.D.C. of
funding for Peter Sparrow's project. Tuesday, November 29th at 1p.m.has
been set as the date for the unveiling by the Mayor Ian McKelvie,
this being the 60th anniversary of the last running of the tram.
We would appreciate the loan of any photos which residents may have
so we can set up a display in the hotel to view after the ceremony.
The plaque will be a block of granite inscribed with the words "Commemorating
the Sanson Tramway 25th August 1884 to 29th November 1945. Dedicated
on 29th November 2005 by Mayor Ian McKelvie Manawatu District Council"

SANSON COMMUNITY LlBRARY
Our next book change is on October 12th and we
always welcome anyone who likes to come along and give a hand on
the day at 10 30a.m. We have been heartened by several newcomers
to the village joining us. Carol has run the Holiday Programme this
week with her usual efficiency and it has been a great pleasure
to have so many young mums bring along their little ones and join
in the fun. We have been given a lot more jigsaws. Remember our
photo-copying service at 10c per A4 sheet.
Opening Hours
Monday 10 a.m to 12 midday Tuesday 2 p.m. to 4
p.m.
Thursday10 a.m. to12 midday Friday 2 p.m. to 4
p.m.
Saturday 11a.m.to 1 p.m.
We were disturbed today to hear of unacceptable behaviour from some
of the younger generation. Private property has been entered and
items in gardens interfered with. Parents need to know what their
young ones are up to when they go wandering in the evenings. We
have also heard of petrol and diesel being siphoned and with the
prices of these so high now we are not surprised. It surprises us
that so many people with garages leave their cars out in the open.
And while complaining we have had it brought to our attention that
it is not only wandering dogs causing aggro; in certain parts of
the village chooks are wandering at will scratching up gardens.
Remember to have good neighbours be a good neighbour!!
