SANSON SNIPPETS

This month's Snippets comes to you courtesy of Owen Dagg who is the rural sales consultant in the Sanson, Rongotea area for J.P.Morgan Real Estate. At present there is a very buoyant market for farms, lifestyle and houses with a high buyer enquiry and properties achieving top prices.

Whether buying or selling just give Owen a call on 323-2601 or mobile 025-498-7071

Owen wishes all our readers a very HAPPY CHRISTMAS and PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR.

SANSON TRAMWAY COMMEMORATION PLAQUE

The weather was very kind to us on Tuesday when our mayor Mr. Ian McKelvie unveiled the plaque outside the Classic Cars building. Sadly, Peter Sparrow was unable to attend which was a pity as it was always his project. It was good to see in the crowd of about 100 people George Williams, Lois and Mildred, the daughters of Jack Currie who drove the tram for 28 years also another lady whose name I cannot recall whose father was also a tram driver. The two junior classes from Sanson School also attended and gave me a sheaf of questions to answer which really taxed my ingenuity. Who knows what is the difference between a tram and a train? I have an answer but whether I am right or not is doubtful! After the unveiling we went over to the hotel for afternoon tea where Bev and Kenneth made us welcome and what a good time those elderly residents had. Usually get togethers like this only happen after funerals. My only regret is that I didn't take a book for everyone present to sign.

Photos from the ceremony have been posted on Dave Pickles website www.sanson.net.nz.

Just click on the thumbnail of the plaque and they will come up.

The OLDIES BUS TRIP

Bulls Rotary once again put on a bus trip for the oldies during November. Those of us who were lucky enough to go enjoyed a wonderful day out at Crosshills Rhododendron Garden. The weather was perfect and the garden beautiful and we thank them for inviting us along.

(We also enjoyed a very nice lunch)

COMMISERATIONS

Several of our residents have had stays in hospital recently and we wish Roy Absalom, Carol Swan and Reg Johnson all the best and also to any one else who is finding life a struggle health wise. We have been encouraged by the help offered to our elderly who may be having trouble with transport. Shirley and I attended a Community Outcomes meeting recently and put forward our case for the same help to be available here in Sanson as is able to be accessed in Feilding and Palmerston North. We applaud the efforts of three members of our community who so generously give up their time to take older residents shopping or to Dr's apointments

MESSAGE FROM JOAN RICHARDS.

Hi there! I just thought I'd like to say that in a way I'm sorry to be leaving Sanson but felt it was time to move on.This "Country Gal" wants to be a "City Slicker"and to hit the high spots! Watch the papers!

Our family has spent 43 happy years in sunny Sanson joining organizations, forming many friendships with the town folk and at the old Manawatu County Council events.

You'll see or hear from me in Sanson now and then.

Cheerio from Joan Richards.

SANSON PLAY CENTRE

The staff at the Play Centre were very disturbed at the wanton vandalism at the Centre. They tend to think that girls may have been responsible but that evidence may only be a smokescreen. Once again with the long evenings and the summer holidays looming we urge parents to know where the young ones are and what they are up to. We are aware that there is not much for youngsters to do in the village but downright destructiveness is very discouraging for those who work hard for the facilities that we have.

DOGS!!!!

Please, dog owners keep your dogs on your own property and make sure that they are tied up at night. One night recently a dog or dogs went on the rampage and killed one mother duck and her five ducklings. In another pen of six-week old ducklings three were killed and two are missing. This is very upsetting to their owner who regards these ducks as her family. How would you feel if they belonged to you?

SANSON CLUB

The annual Christmas Party this year is to be held on the 10th December. The Children's party starts at 3 p.m. and parents are asked to bring a named present for their child to the value of no more than $5 which Father Christmas will be handing out. This party is open to the wider community and all are welcome to come along ad join in the fun!

Well, this has been a great year for our community with new homes being built and new residents who we hope are being made welcome. The demise of Bamboo and Teak has meant that shortly we will have a new business on those premises and the activity across the road has created interest about the new business which will soon be up and running. The Reeves residence has been shifted round to Grace St.

Finally the team who produce the Snippets wish to thank you all for your support financially and other wise this year and wish you all a very Happy Christmas.

We will be back in February.
