OCTOBER 2006

WANTED KNOWN
We have a variety of requests this month and the most unusual
one is for live snails!! Kim at the old school has a need for
these for her reptiles and she is willing to pay for them but
they must not have been exposed to snail bait. So children if
you want to make some money get hunting and take your catch down

Bob Clark from the Bulls Museum has left several fund raising
calendars at the library. These have images of days gone by including
the old Bulls Bridge, which I remember from my childhood and one
of the old Sanson School which is included because of the Scott’s
Ferry Bell which hung there for so many years. These calendars
are available for $10.
Did you notice all the Police cars around the village last Sunday?
I wondered what was going on and all was revealed when an annoyed
parent rang me to tell me that the police arrived at her home
after another resident had identified her son as being the culprit
in whatever misdemeanor had taken place. She would ask residents
to be sure of their facts before making false accusations.
Mike is a hard working. fast learner. keen and reliable farm worker
who has transferred for family reasons from the Waikato and is
now seeking dairy farm work in the Manawatu. He can be contacted

A young cage bird has been found and has been rehoused at 14

SANSON COMMUNITY AND SCHOOL POOL
The pool will be open at Labour weekend weather permitting!
Season pass costs are $62 first time users and $50 for renewal.
Just apply at the School office. Casual passes will be available

Is there anybody out there prepared to take on the voluntary position
of pool caretaker? This job can be shared and full training will
be given.

SANSON LIBRARY
We had just about decided to give up the holiday programme through
lack of interest but we have had a great week with the Library
almost overflowing with busy children and helpful mothers. Makes
it all worthwhile! Thank you to Carol for her dedication and patience.
We had a good turnout also to our coffee morning and we will have
another on Wednesday October 18th at 10am.
Our next book change is on Wednesday October 11th and we always
appreciate the help that we are given. There are still several
outstanding books overdue from our last issue and we would like
them to be returned. We now offer a laminating service as well
as our photo copying service. These are 20 cents and 10 cents
per A4 page respectively.
SANSON COMMUNITY COMMITTEE
Great attendance at our last meeting and it is good to see interest
being shown in our village. We have put in our requests for a
footpath and speed humps in Phillips St and await developments.
Next meeting will be held on Wednesday
25th October in the Library at7 pm.
SANSON SCHOOL CRAFT AND AGRICULTURAL DAY
Is scheduled for Friday October 27th and all residents are invited
to come along and see all the hard work that the children have
put into their calves and lambs. The calf and lamb judging will
be followed by a cake auction, barbeque, art display and various
other Gala Day entertainments.
BROADBAND
Contrary to what Telstra Clear is advertising
Broadband is not available here in Sanson and it has been suggested
to me by Telstra that if I get at least 30 names and phone numbers
and take them to our local M.P. we may get some action in having
our telephone exchange updated. If you are interested please E-mail

and I will see what we can do. Information from Telecom stated
that they will consider our request again in November but we have
been down that road twice before. We know that some residents

SANSON COMMUNITY HALL
We have recently ordered new curtains for the supper room to be
paid with booking money and with a grant from M.D.C. we are having
the lino replaced in the kitchen and foyer. For

CONDOLENCES
We were sad to hear of the passing of Kevin Frecklington. Kevin
who was until recently a part owner of Agricultural Traders has
been a generous supporter of this newsletter. Also today we have
learned of the passing of Peter Meacheam’s father at his home
in Dannevirke. Our sympathy goes out to the friends and families
of these two men.
CEMETERY RD. WALKING TRACK
Contrary to the opinion of one member of our community there are
more than three people who use this track and provided we can
come up with some money Council will complete it for us. So raffle
books will soon be circulating and when we have some money in
we can apply to one of the various funding agencies.
Late news
Carol on phone 3293196 has had her much loved eight month old
fluffy, recently speyed cat go missing so if it has turned up
at your house please give her a ring.
