SANSON SNIPPETS

APRIL 2007

This month’s Snippets come to you courtesy of The Sheepskin Shop. I took the time to have a good browse there and what really took my eye were the hand knitted Aran Jerseys and Cardigans priced at only $120. As a dedicated knitter myself these impressed me as being exceptional value. Sizes range from 32” to 52” There are many specials in sheepskin slippers and footwear. They carry a good range of haberdashery, knitting needles and my favourite, wool. Too many souvenirs to detail which include hats, keyrings, jewellery etc. etc. Sandy and Chris are happy to arrange postage for you if you are wishing to send presents overseas. The Rawleighs Products that they took over from Ari Nugteren are also freely available. Don’t take my word for it, drop in and see for yourself and I am sure you will be surprised at the range of goods on offer.

ANZAC DAY
The arrangements for this year’s Anzac Day service are as follows. For those wishing to march fall in is at 9.15 a.m. at the State Highway 1 entrance to the school, thence to the cenotaph for the wreath laying and the fly past from Ohakea. The service will be held in the Community Hall at 10 am and the speaker will be Sgt Tim Jordan speaking about the 90th Anniversary Commemorations held at Gallipolli. This will be followed by morning tea and a get together in the supper room. (A plate would be appreciated.) We have quite a few new residents in the village and we invite you to come along and join with us on this important day.
Richard would appreciate help from any able bodied men to set up the hall on the afternoon of April 24th. Phone 3293622 Thank You.

SANSON COMMUNITY LIBRARY.

We will be holding a children’s Holiday Programme from 10 30 am. to 11 30 am. Tuesday 10th April through to Friday 13th April. All craft material is free and we prefer pre schoolers to bring a minder. Our next book change is on Wednesday 19th April at 10 30 am. and we always appreciate any help on offer. We also offer photo copying at 10c per A4 page and 20c per A3 page. Laminating 50c per A4 page. Laminating is a great way to preserve those favourite knitting patterns.
Library hours are
Monday 10am. to midday Tuesday 2pm. to 4pm.
Thursday 10am. to midday Friday 2pm. to 4pm.
Saturday 11am to 1pm.

SANSON COMMUNITY COMMITTEE
Residents will be pleased to see that the drain from Dundas Rd. to Hedges St. is in the process of being piped. Our next priority will probably be focused on Phillips St to get a piped drain and a footpath there. Like everything else from agitating to the actual happening seems to take forever so don’t expect miracles. We have had a lot of complaints about the state of the toilets and these are in line to be replaced sometime in the future. It would be appreciated if complaints are addressed to the Manawatu District Council on phone 323 0000. Local Body Elections take place in October and then residents will have a chance to stand for this committee so think about offering your services to the village. Our next committee meeting will be held at the Library on Thursday April 26th at 7 30 pm.
