SANSON SNIPPETS
APRIL 2007
PART 2
OHAKEA MUSEUM
At our committee meeting we discussed the imminent closing of
the museum. There will be many among us who have either loaned
or donated items and are very perturbed at the high handed way
in which the closure has been notified. If you have strong feelings
on this subject please make your voice heard.
SANSON COMMUNITY AND SCHOOL POOL
The pool will remain open as long as the weather stays warm enough
to swim. A notice will be put on the door when it closes. Residents
holding pass keys would you please remember to return them to
the school. The committee is looking into the option of heating
the pool at some time in the future. Watch this space!!
The Sanson School requires a Teacher aide for 5 hours weekly for
learning support in the classroom. An experienced person would
be preferred. If this appeals to you contact the principal Sue
MacLachlan on phone 3293 768
ARTITUDE!!
Have you looked in to the Golden Galleon building recently? Several
of our local artists Sally, Nola, Judy. Bruce and Brandon have
some very interesting artwork there. Sally
on phone 3293 823 requires men’s unwanted ties so if you have
any cluttering up your wardrobe she will be pleased to hear from
you.
SANSON WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
These ladies meet in the supper room of the Community Hall on
the first Tuesday of each month at 1 30pm. They are a very friendly
lot and if you are new to the village you will be made welcome.
Each month they have activities and an interesting speaker. Contact
person is Esmae Martin on phone 3285 912
SANSON COMMUNITY HALL
We have a lot of forward bookings for the hall and if you are
planning a special occasion it pays to book early. Individual
quotes given. Phone Del on 3293 674
NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH
Our neighbourhood watchmen are out and about checking for unlocked
premises etc. every evening. They are provided with cell phones
and torches out of funds. These funds are running rather low so
we will be canvassing the businesses in the near future and hope
that the response is as good as it was in 2002 when we last collected.
They have access to the police should they see anything suspicious
and our thanks go out to them for their work in all weathers.
RECYCLING CENTRE.
What a good job Daniel does tidying up the mess that some users
make! Please make it easier for him by only leaving recyclables
there.
WATER SUPPLY.
We will all be thankful when the upgrading of the restrictors
is completed. The contractors have been hampered by inaccurate
information as to where the tobys are. A little bit of local knowledge
would have been a big help to them.
That’s it for this month!
