SANSON SNIPPETS

SANSON SNIPPETS
February 2007

Erina True of Bulls Books, Toys and Stationery is the sponsor of this month's Snippets. Erina's shop is located in High St. Bulls next to the Bulls Museum. I had a browse there when I was in Bulls last week and was surprised at the variety of items on offer. There are many haberdashery items, hardware and gardening requisites. You will have received a flier from Erina that will give you some idea of the range of goods available. Do take the opportunity to check this shop out next time you are in Bulls.

Are you back to normal after the Christmas Break? I took the opportunity to take my seven year old great grandson on the Overlander Train to Hamilton and back and I would warmly recommend the trip to everybody. Good views, good food and friendly hostesses.

We had some good news from Simon Power's office in December to the effect that BROADBAND will be available by March 1st. If it actually happens it will prove the old adage that the squeaky wheel gets the most oil. Thank you to all who sent e-mails to me.

Now for the GRIZZLES!!
Who owns the dogs that are befouling the streets at night and raiding the rubbish bins? On New Years Day the City Council workmen were seen cleaning up the mess in Dundas Road. If you are a good dog owner, be an excellent owner when walking your dogs; carry a pooper scooper and remove their deposits. Personally I am fed up with having to remove dog faeces of my roadside lawn every time I mow it. And at the Recycling Centre Daniel was left an awful mess to clean up over the holiday break. The rule is if there is a place for it leave it, otherwise take it home and dispose of it via the blue Council bag. And for those of you who are new to the village when Monday is a holiday the blue bag collection is on Wednesday. The Recycling Centre is behind the Library.

SANSON COMMUNITY AND SCHOOL POOL
The pool has been well used over the last few hot days. Season passes will be available from the school when school returns on February 7th. In the meantime casual passes are available from Del on phone 3293674. Several of our residents were formerly able to use Ohakea's pool all year but this access has now been denied to them. The pool Committee is considering heating the pool so it could be open all year. As the pool is covered this should not be too much of a difficulty. Any suggestions for fund-raising to Steve Morgan on phone 3293400.

Transport required
A schoolgirl attending Rangitikei College this year requires a ride from Sanson to Bulls each school morning by 8a.m. and again a ride home in the afternoon at 4p.m. A financial arrangement will be made. If you can help please phone 3293640
