November
2007
This month the Snippets
comes to you courtesy of the Sanson Womens Institute. The Country
Womens Institute was founded 79 years ago and recently changed
it's name to encompass all women looking for friendship and fellowship.
These ladies meet at 1.30pm on the first Tuesday of the month
in the Supper-Room of the Community Hall. During the winter months
the meetings are held at 11am and members enjoy a luncheon. Each
month they have craft demonstrations, competitions, outings and
speakers on various subjects. Children are welcome too!
Contact numbers are Esmae 3285912, Joan 3237708, Vera 3248813,

So don't be shy, come along and enjoy the company!
Today I took a wander
around the village shops with an eye to the approaching festive
season. First I visited PRESENCE IN SANSON and was pleasantly
surprised to see what Edna has on show. Her Christmas Grotto complete
with fireplace is a joy to behold. Stunning decorations to pretty
up not only the Xmas tree but the whole house and plenty of ideas
for presents for young and old, male or female. New Zealand Souvenirs
to send overseas and just too many to list here. Then I went to
THE SHEEPSKIN SHOP and feasted my eyes on all the products from
the sheep's back. Sandy has a quite different range of souvenirs
from Edna's and all are equally acceptable. Lots of knitware and
slippers etc and of course my favourite, the wool! At both shops
there are items to suit all purses. I then crossed the road and
visited THE PET SHOP where I had a chat to Kelly who was giving
a drink to a pair or puppies. As you have probably gathered I
am not a dog lover but I have to admit they are so cute! Kelly
also has a good range of all animal accessories and foodstuffs.
Do stop and have a chat with the galah at the front door!
Really there is no need to go elsewhere for Christmas presents
and with petrol prices so high and all this talk about carbon
footprints why not patronize our local businesses. Both WEEKEND
CRAFT and RAINBOW FURNTURE have quality outdoor furniture and
I just love the rocking horses that Bill has on display. After
you have exhausted yourself shopping why not pop into one of our
cafes for an invigorating cuppa or a crazy sundae?
Our neighbourhood
watch funds that pay for the cell phones our night patrol carry
are running low and donations would be appreciated. These guys
do a wonderful job checking out the businesses school and hall
each evening and just generally keeping an eye out for miscreants.

David has a great site there..
SANSON SCHOOL
Once again a successful Ag and Craft day has been held. Though
there were not as many calves and lambs as in previous years the
standard was as high as ever. The crafts and floral exhibits presented
the judges with big problems and they would like to have given
all the children prizes!
SANSON COMMUNITY
AND SCHOOL POOL
Please remember if you intend to swim this summer pool keys can
be purchased at the school office. These cost $60 for first timers
and $52 if you have been a previous holder. Hopefully the weather
will soon warm up allowing for the pool to be opened. For a casual
swim keys will be obtainable from Del on phone 3293674

SANSON COMMUNITY
HALL
Users of the hall will be pleasantly surprised at the upgrades
that Robbie Lammas has helped the hall committee with. Thank You
Robbie!!
Over the summer holidays we are planning to have the supper room
and the kitchen repainted. If you have a function coming up phone
Del on 3293674.
Individual quotes given.
SANSON COMMUNITY
COMMITTEE
We have decided that we must be doing a reasonable job as though
there was a good turnout of residents nobody challenged us for
positions on the committee at our triennial election meeting.
For those of you who don't understand our function the committee
liaises with the Manawatu District Council on all matters to do
with village concerns. Though we don't get everything we ask for
we are always ready to listen to resident's concerns and take
them to the M.D.C. The new committee is
Chairperson; James O'Regan, Secretary; Del Parker.
Committee; Heather and Mike Noffke, Nola Borrett, Richard Gravenor,
Ross Vile, and Denise Tanner.
Our next meeting will be held in the Library at 7.30pm on Wednesday
the 28th November. All Welcome!
Thats it for
this month!
