April 2008
This month the Snippets
comes to you courtesy of Barry and Tracie whose new business Passionz
has opened in the Golden Galleon building. Tracie showed me a
vast array of goods and there is something interesting at affordable
prices for everyone. Amongst the Unique Imported goods I noticed
were Jewellery, Handbags, Designer Clothing and accessories, Natural
Body Products, Home Décor furniture and Garden Accessories.
N.Z. Art is also a feature and Tracie will happily make you up
a Gift Basket to your specifications. Laybys available.

ANZAC DAY

COMMEMORATIONS.
This will follow the usual format with the parade assembling at
the school gates on State Highway 1 at 9 15 a.m. The Parade will
then march to the memorial for the wreath laying and the fly past
from Ohakea. We will then proceed to the Community Hall at 10a.m.for
the service which will be conducted by the deacon in charge of
St Thomas's Church, Keith Edwards. The speaker will be Paul Gibson
who was the most recent curator of the Ohakea Museum. After the
service there will be a cup of tea in the supper room and all
residents are cordially invited. Please bring a plate. Feilding
Brass Band will be in attendance.
NEIGHBOURHOOD

WATCH
We have had to buy a new mobile phone and as a consequence our
funds have run very low. I hate going around asking for money
and if you appreciate the work that John, Reg and Joe do, all
contributions will be gratefully received. Receipts are given
and donations are tax deductible. Phone Del 3293674.
RECYCLING CENTRE

What a mess confronted us a week or so ago when the container
was chock a block and recyclers just left their rubbish beside
it. When the container was exchanged rubbish was scattered everywhere.
Fortunately pupils from Sanson School dealt with the mess and
we thank them for the help they gave. We ask residents to please
wait till it has been emptied in future and we have spoken to
the Council about having it emptied more frequently. Seems as
though many of you took the long Easter break to have an Autumn
clean up!
SANSON SCHOOL
A very successful twilight gala was held at the school recently
and it was pleasing to see how many residents who have no connection
with the school attended. Some good bargains were bought at the
auction sale which was conducted by Ashley Anderson.
At the moment the Friends of the School are selling tickets for
their big fundraiser GOING QUACKERS!! This is a duck race down
the Kiwitea Stream on the 31st May and if the numbered duck first
home corresponds with your ticket you will have won $500 of petrol!
WOW! Second prize is a Mountain Bike and there are lots of other
spot prizes too. Be sure to get yourself a ticket. They are obtainable
at the school for $5.
And if you are having a spend at Mitre 10 Mega please nominate
Sanson School. The school also had a stall at the Ohakea Open
Day which was well worth while. The swimming pool will be open
as long as the weather stays warm enough. Congratulations to the
seven Sanson School children who attended the Te Kawau Swimming
Sports and came home with twelve ribbons!
SANSON COMMUNITY COMMITTEE
At our meeting on Wednesday evening we discussed the ongoing problems
with the toilets and the town water supply. We know that there
is money put aside for the new toilets and what we really need
is not the up market state of the art toilets combined with Information
Centre etc etc but a basic CLEAN facility. Destination Manawatu
are supposed to have the proposal all in hand but we have heard
nothing for months and in the meantime the toilets we have are
often an embarrassment to us.
The
town water supply has struck many problems since the failure of
the bore in the Rangitikei river and on Thursday evening a resident
discovered water pouring into the creek behind Course Lane. We
called out EXCELL who hopefully have discovered the source of
this major leak We are aware that there are many homes including
my own where the restrictors have not yet been replaced and we
suspect that some of us are able to access more water than the
daily quota.
Our next meeting will be in the library at 7.30pm April 23rd
.
SANSON COMMUNITY LIBRARY
We have decided to cancel the Wednesday evening opening of the
library through lack of interest. We welcome residents to come
along and have a go on the computer. We have Broadband and e-mail
plus access to many library sites. The Library and the Snippets
are both featured on David Pickles www.sanson.net.nz along with
lots of other information about the businesses in the village.
Our next book change is at 10.30am on Wednesday the 9th of April
and we welcome any help residents care to give.

NOT
NICE!!!
A resident discovered dog excrement in the back lane between State
Highway 1 and Fagan St. If you are the culprit who has thrown
it there shame on you. Children play there!
For hall bookings call
Del on 3293674. Individual quotes given.
Kim is anxious to obtain
an old unused fridge with good seals to use as an incubator. If
you are able to help please phone her on 3293432
Thats it for
this month!
ADDENDUM
Hi there heres a curly question for you!!
Are you able to find out
about grazing for horses, facilities etc in Sanson?? I
am looking to move down and I need to get that sorted first. I
would need somewhere more than just a paddock if thats possible,
and cost too.
I know Santoft forest is
closed due to fire restrictions at the moment do you know if that
includes riding through to get to the beach?
Well I hope you dont
mind me asking
