Dec 2008

Here we are with
the last Snippets of the year and what a year it has been. We
thank those of you who have supported us this year with sponsorship
and donations of photocopy paper, money, stamps etc. We print
300 copies and post to eleven former residents and e-mail to several
others. The Snippets can also be read on line on David Pickles
sanson net.
When you are doing your Christmas shopping why go out of the village
when we have such interesting gift shops here. Presence in Sanson,
the Sheepskin Shop, Passionz, and the Antique Centre all carry
a wideranging variety of goods suitable for Christmas presents.
Please support our local businesses as they support us!

WOMENS INSTITUTE
Recently I attended the 80th birthday of this group and what a
wonderful afternoon I had. Their president lent me the minute
books to peruse, which go back to 1928 and what an interesting
tale they tell. They are not just a social group and over the
years they have supported many causes, for instance the Kimberley
Home, leper colonies, arranging for a child to go to Health Camp,
paying the rent for a family whose father was in hospital, packing
food parcels for soldiers during the 2nd World War and much more.
I intend to write a summary of the Institute to go into our archives
and James will do a pictorial record. If you are considering joining,
contact numbers are Esmae Martin phone 3285912 or Vera Hunt phone
3248813. You will be made welcome!
The same day I was
under the impression that my family was taking me to The Manor
for my 75th birthday dinner but I was bamboozled into going to
the Supper room at the Hall where some of my friends had arranged
a surprise party for me. And what a party! Thank you to Mike for
the cake and to Joan for icing it so beautifully and to Donny
and Bronwyn for organizing it and a big thank you to all who attended.
I was gob smacked!!
CONDOLENCES
Our sincere sympathy goes out to Pam and her family with the passing
of Peter Frecklington on Monday 17th November. He had been ill
for several years and bore his illness with great fortitude packing
lots of new experiences into the last few months of his life.
I have cause to be grateful to Peter who built my lovely warm
watertight house way back in 1975
BASKETBALL
Due to the silly season Diane has decided to take a break from
Thursday night's basketball sessions.
They will start again in the Community Hall at 6pm on January
22nd and she hopes to see you there with your gold coin.
SANSON
SCHOOL
Recently the school was broken into and two laptop computers were
stolen. These are leased computers and the school would like them
returned no questions asked. They both require passwords to access
them.
SANSON SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY POOL
The Swimming Pool is now open for swimming and access cards can
be obtained at the school for $62 first time users and $45 for
those of you who have had cards before. Casual Passes can be obtained
from Del 3293674 at $5. A great deal of expenditure is necessary
to maintain the pool and the pool committee has sent out a flier
to local businesses asking for their support. In the near future
raffles will be circulating and we ask you to support them. If
you have not yet purchased your pass please do so between 8 30am
and 12 30 pm from the school office. We ask parents to make sure
that their children are wearing appropriate clothing when swimming.
The present committee is very enthusiastic and has lots of plans
for raising money including painting an internal wall and charging
children to paint fish on it. They also wish to thank Darryl Vining
for painting the pool signage.
RECYCLING
CENTRE
PLEASE don't leave a mess there! Need I say more?
WALKING
TRACK
Dog walkers please carry a plastic bag with you when walking the
track. There is a Doggy Doo bin beside the track. Please use it.
It is gratifying to see the number of walkers using the track
in the early mornings. Contractors have been asked to refurbish
the original section of the track.
