SANSON SCHOOL NEWS
The swimming pool is currently being readied for the summer season and if you wish to obtain a season pass contact the school office on 3293786. As in past years casual passes will be available from Del 3293674. In past seasons there has been a lot of bad behaviour by youngsters and we ask parents to make sure they are supervised at all times. Failure to observe the rules could mean confiscation of the pass. This year is slipping away so fast that I had not realized that Ag and Craft Day was once more upon us and this was held on Thursday October 30th and I apologise to the school for not mentioning it in the last newsletter. I hear that there were not as many calves and lambs as in past years but the children's craft is always worth a look. Many past pupils will remember Mr. Ron McCullough who passed away suddenly last week. Ron was the principal of Sanson School at the time of the big shift from the old school to its present site. He will be sorely missed by his many friends.

SANSON CLUB
All residents are welcome to come along to the club on Tuesday 4th November for the running of the Melbourne Cup. The club will be open from 2pm.
There will be quickfire $2 and $5 sweeps. Don't forget to bring your best hat as there will be a competition for the best hat for both the ladies and the gents. Hot toasted sandwiches will be on the menu. This is always a fun day so be there!

SANSON WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
Congratulations to these ladies who are celebrating the 80th birthday of their organization on Tuesday 4th November. The Institute is always keen to have more members and if you are interested they meet on the first Tuesday of each month in the supper room of the Community Hall at 1 30pm.

BASKETBALL
Diane invites you to come along on Wednesday evenings at 6 pm for friendly basketball in the Community Hall. We commend Diane for providing this activity for all ages and not necessarily just the youth of the village. Good way to burn off some of that energy and calories at the same time. Admission a gold coin.

For all hall bookings phone Del on 3293674. Individual quotes given

SANSON COMMUNITY LIBRARY
What fun we had with the holiday programme and thanks to the mothers who came along to help Suzanne, Maureen and me. We know that one grandmother was delighted with the laminated place mat that her granddaughter made her for her birthday. Once again the weather has not been great but the Library is always warm and welcoming. We are pleased to enroll a few more borrowers but we once again implore those of you who have overdue books to please return them! Thank you to those who came and helped us with our book change. We have one more change just prior to Christmas. Remember our photo-copying service 10c per A4 sheet and 20c per A3 sheet. Laminating 50 c per A 4 sheet. You won't get it cheaper anywhere else!
Library Hours.
Monday and Thursday 10am to midday. Tuesday and Friday 2pm to 4pm
Saturday 11am to 1pm.

SANSON COMMUNITY COMMITTEE
At our last meeting we discussed engine braking, lanes, drains, the walking track, spraying etc. and sometimes I think nothing changes. We co-opted two new members on to the committee. On Sunday November 2nd the responsibility for the Sunday Market will be the committee's and this has been a learning curve for us. The item in the Herald was not correct when it said that the Council had taken on the market. We have and profits will go back into the community. We are very interested to see what plans the M.D.C. have for the hotel building and will keep you informed of future developments.
Next meeting of the committee will be held in the Library on Wednesday 26th November at 7 30 pm.

SANSON NEIGHBOURHOOD SUPPORT
Please keep a look out for suspicious vehicles cruising the back streets. There have been some unsavoury characters about and if anything causes you unease please call the police. We have heard of petrol siphoning once again. If your dog barks at night why not investigate the reason? If you wish to form a neighbourhood support group in your area just call Allan Muntz on phone 3237386

SANSON ARCHIVES.
Keep those photos and newspaper clippings rolling in! We have received cuttings of events of long ago which we had long since forgotten about. We intend to eventually have them on display possibly at the Library.

TRIVIA!
I recently had the good fortune to travel to Auckland on a coach trip to see Phantom of the Opera and would love to go again. If you have not seen it and have the chance to go, do go. The only problem is that now I can't get the music out of my head!
