Community Update

The Police have asked that the following message be circulated.

"I would appreciate it if you could circulate the following details to the Neighbourhood Support groups throughout Feilding and any other areas you feel would be suitable.

10/07/2010

Scott Guy's death has been confirmed as a homicide with the post mortem showing he suffered gunshot wounds.

We want to reassure the community that Police are doing everything possible to find out how and why Scott was killed. There is a 20 plus team of officers investigating.

The community can play a significant role in this investigation and Police want to hear about any suspicious behaviour in the area in the days leading up to Scott's death. He had got up early on Thursday, 8 July, to go and work on the farm and was found around 7am.

Police also want any background information that the community may feel is relevant to the investigation.

To speak to a member of the investigation team the number is 0800 808585"

Our condolences got to the family and our thoughts are with the local community.

There have been a number of calls to the Feilding Police and to our office concerning individuals who have been cold calling looking for work (arborists and gutter cleaners) - this has been occurring right across the region in residential areas as well as rurally.

It is your choice on who you employ to undertake work around your property. You should not feel pressured to employ those who come cold calling. Get a quote and compare or get recommendations/comments from a local nursery in regards to the quality of work the arborists undertake.

If you are unhappy with the approach of some of these individuals, ask them to leave your property. They can often be very persuasive. If they don't leave just note down the vehicle registration number and any distinguishing features of the individual concerned, close the door and ring the Police for assistance.
