SANSON COMMUNITY HALL

Users will note we have had the eight easy chairs in the supper -room recovered by Kelvin Hazelgrove of Feilding Upholstery and what a wonderful job he has done. We warmly recommend his work to anyone considering resurrecting old lounge suites, easy chairs etc. Further improvements have been the installation of fluorescent lights in the kitchen area. Thanks are due to Matt Ryan for this work If you are wishing to hire the hall for your forth coming function contact Del 329 3674 Individual quotes given.

SANSON COMMUNITY COMMITTEE

At our last meeting we discussed the answers we received to our submissions to the Council's Annual Plan. It seems that we are no closer to getting Fagan St from Dundas Rd, to the school widened so we will just have to keep niggling, Our request to have that portion of our rates that goes to the Makino Pool diverted to our pool was rejected but at least we have given them our thoughts on the unfairness of the rating system. We have been told that the walking track will be finished this summer so there was some good news. One of our residents complained about rats on her property and she had contacted Horizons about this. Rats have always been a problem to those of us who live close to the stream. Councillor Giles told us of rat poisons that can be obtained from Amey's in Rongotea that can be stapled to a post thereby preventing rats from taking them away and storing them. Our next meeting will be in the Library on Wednesday September 23rd at 7 30pm. All Welcome.
SANSON COMMUNITY LIBRARY
Where are all our readers? While we have dozens of subscribers enrolled we only see just a few of them. Thank you to those of you who came to help with our book change. We will have a holiday programme for the children in the second week of the school holidays but more about that next month.
SANSON SUNDAY MARKET
The committee has made its first distribution of funds to local organizations. The Play Centre will receive money to complete their roof repairs, the Swimming Pool will be able to do pump repairs and their grant will go towards repairing and painting the pool. The final grant is for the Bulls Fire Brigade to install smoke alarms in all residential properties in our village. Thank you for supporting the market! Recently I have been a bit more sociable than usual thanks to Bulls Rotary who organized a bus trip to see Miss Saigon at the Regent Theatre. This was a wonderful show and those of us who availed ourselves of the offer greatly appreciated the chance to go and see this very professional show. Thanks to the bus diver Bryce Tamblyn who contacted me about the show. And on Friday night I went along to the Sanson Club's mid winter Christmas Dinner. It certainly beats cooking one's own dinner and eating on one's own. A most enjoyable evening! Thank you Sanson Club for the invitation!
DOGS!!!
There has been a complaint about all the dog excrement at the Rec. It is a dog exercise area but that does not mean that owners should not take responsibility for their animals crap. Please take it away with you. And if you are the owner of the pitbull dog that attacked another dog last week and was impounded by the dog ranger shame on you! This dog had no identification and should not have been allowed to roam at will. If it had been a child that it attacked it could have been a real catastrophe! Recently a resident complained to me that someone had contacted the S.P.C.A. about her animals. The inspector who visited gave her the thumbs up and was quite satisfied with the conditions. This was a waste of the S.P.C.A.'s resources. If you are unhappy with a neighbour why not just talk to them instead? RECYCLING CENTRE
Not again you say? This time I will give you the opening hours of the Bulls dump and please take your rubbish there. Do not leave it at the Centre!!! The transfer station is in Watson St. and the hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday 7 30am to 11 30am, Saturday 8am to 3pm and Sunday 9 30am to 4 30pm so there is no excuse! LOST BIRD. A male galah has escaped from its home and its mate is fretting. If by chance you have found it or maybe you have a male galah to sell please contact Kim on phone 3293432
