May 2010
This month the Snippets come
to you courtesy of Kelvin Hazelgrove,
a local resident who operates Feilding Upholstery situated in
Manchester St. Feilding. Kelvin has reupholstered the easy chairs
in the Supper room of the Community Hall for us and we are delighted
at the transformation. And the price was good too! If you have
a favourite armchair or perhaps a suite that is looking shabby
Kelvin is the man for you. Phone 3238514
It has been a time of sadness for families in Sanson with the
passing of Lorraine Carter, partner of Graham Shepherd and Ruth
de la Haye, mother of Viv Withers. Lorraine had lived here for
many years and it is sad that her life was cut so short. Ruth
had been a resident of Sandon Court for several years and was
noted for her beautiful garden. We extend our sympathy to the
families of these two women.

COMMUNITY COMMITTEE
Our May meeting became the Draft Annual Plan meeting in the supper
room at the Hall with the Mayor Ian McKelvie and three councilors
in attendance. We were pleased with the turnout of residents who
were able to voice their concerns and have been encouraged to
put submissions in to the Annual Plan. Submissions close on May
10th .A copy of the minutes of the meeting is included with this
newsletter. The May meeting will be held in the Library at 7 30pm
Wednesday May 26th.
It seems no time since Christmas and here we are four months gone
already.
ANZAC DAY
Once again Anzac Day was well attended and it was pleasing to
note the young children who attended with their parents. Mayor
Ian McKelvie gave a very thoughtful address and it was a very
sombre audience who stood for a minute's silence for the three
airmen who lost their lives so tragically that morning. On a brighter
note Lois Thacker on the piano and several of the R.S.A. Ladies
gave an impromptu concert before the service started. The music
was lovely ladies and we enjoyed your singing.
We are so lucky to have the services of the Feilding Brass Band
to accompany the singing and lead the parade.
Pity the poor mailman and
people delivering fliers etc. Letterboxes full of junk mail and
sodden newspapers, menacing dogs ready to take one's hand off
and overhanging trees. There have been a lot of complaints about
a rotweiller dog and a pitbull cross dog roaming and the dog ranger
has been called out several times lately. The rotweiller is the
suspect in the recent killing of yet another sheep on my property.
Please take responsibility for your dogs.

Not being much of a technophobe
I didn't manage to tape the last episode of Masterchef and hope
that somebody can lend me theirs. I would be very grateful!
That's it for this month.
Keep praying for rain!
